Bay of Islands – Swim4TheOcean makes Bay of Islands and first community stopover
Jono Ridler started just before 9am and swum a four shift this morning coming out of the water onto the StabiX off Purerua Peninsula and Nine Pin having swim close to 14km.
Bay of Islands – here comes Jono Ridler and Swim4TheOcean
Jono Ridler made great progress south today, announcing the first community stopover for 3pm Tuesday 13 January as a result. He logged another 25kms today – and now has 138.7km under the belt.
One more push tomorrow morning will bring him close to Nine Pin on the outer entrance to the Bay of Islands – the plan is to start at 8am for a six-hour leg.
113km down: Swim4TheOcean gains momentum in first week
A week since he waded into the surf at Waikuku Beach, North Cape, Jono Ridler has logged 113km and close to 36 hours swim time in his unassisted staged swim world-record attempt.

Jono Ridler hit the water at 11am off Great Exhibition Bay after transferring by boat to the last marked GPS point, with the mission beelining toward Karikari Peninsula.
